Can a string of lights be left out in the rain?
That depends on the model. Not every string light is water-resistant.
Water-resistant string lights (IP44 or higher): Can be hung in the rain. The cord and lamp holders are protected against splashing water.
Pay attention to the battery holder or plug: These are less waterproof than the cord on most models. Hang the battery holder in a sheltered spot – in a planter, under a canopy, or in a small waterproof box.
Non-water-resistant string lights: Exclusively for indoor or covered outdoor areas. Bring them inside when it rains.
Our tip: Check the product page to see if the string lights have an IP44 rating or higher. If in doubt: bring them inside when it rains or hang the battery holder in a sheltered spot.
